Agenda:

8:00-8:20: overview/ intro and camera sharing info

8:20-9:00: sharing four different units aligned with MLR's, Atomic Learning, web pages in iphoto

9:00-10:30:  1)  select one idea and draft lesson/unit to create and share

                     2)  take photos, take a break (around 9:30)

                     3)  use drafted lesson/unit and create

10:30 - participants will semi-formally share their ideas with the entire group so they can receive feedback and suggestions.  Sharing might be done electronically or through verbal explanation or some other mode.

 

1. Self Portraits and zooming in on details - art and literacy "What did I learn"

a. In depth writing piece about me; autobiographical

b. Write a response to a drawing using the technology to impact their final result; using the tools to see the details, shapes, lines etc. that enable student to see and recreate; "Learning to draw is learning to see."

c. Write a nonfiction piece describing the steps that the student took in the process using the terminology

 

 

2. Capturing and describing their world - Examples of the Elements and Principles of art http://union.msad40.org/pages/art/photojournalism.html - Art and Literacy

a. Understanding the Elements and Principles of Art

b. Evaluating and identifying examples of E&P in their world and photographing them.

c. Describe how the photo exemplifies the E&P (using a prose, poem, etc.)

d. Create a web page in iPhoto using the photos and text

a. Take photos around the school; gave each photo a title and a "story starter" line.

b. Brainstorm photo topics with students to encourage ownership.

c. Students send the photos with titles and story starters to teacher who can create web page in iPhoto.

d. Students can add photos to a wiki or blog etc. and write.

e. Each student can choose a photo and story starter to begin writing in class.

4. Geometric shapes - photograph, export to Keynote, outline and make into Quicktime- Math and Art

Students:

a. Learn about Polygons in Math.

b. Learn how to use a digital camera.

c. Take photos of polygons around the school.

d. Import photos into iPhoto and edit.

e. Create Keynote with polygons. Create a slide for each photo of a polygon, outline the polygon in each photo example and name.

f. Complete self assesment checklist on the Polygon Scavenger Hunt and write about what they learned.
